Sheryl Hlavacek is a newcomer to Maryland International Raceway (MIR) starting in the 2008 race season and striving to be the next Shirley Muldowney. Sheryl was born in Omaha, Nebraska and followed in her fathers foot-steps in drag racing. She made her first pass at sixteen years old at Scribner Raceway in Scribner, Nebraska in a 1976 Chevy Camaro.  Sheryl continue racing until she was 21 years old and then decided to take a break from racing to pursue a career in Foodservice Distribution, raise a family and complete her MBA.  Sheryl grew up racing with her father and at 37 years has decided to pursue her real passion - Drag Racing.  Sheryl graduated from Frank Hawley’s School of Drag racing with NHRA/IHRA Super Gas License in August 2007 with run time of 9.26 @ 146 mph in a Super Gas Car.  Sheryl comes to the track each week with her proven abilities as a licensed NHRA/IHRA driver.
